There are so many types of flooring to choose from these days. (Natural Hardwood, Engineered Hardwood, Vinyl Sheet Flooring, Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP), Tile, & Carpet)

Knowing how to pick what is best for your needs can be intimidating. That's why Landry R & R is here to help solve your renovation struggles.

*We do not install or refinish natural/engineered hardwood flooring. The companies that specialize in this can do it faster and cheaper than we can. However, hardwood steps are the exception, as we do complete these jobs.*

Know Your Flooring Choices

Vinyl Sheet Flooring

flooring

This is an older product, made of a solid sheet of vinyl. It was used a lot for kitchens and bathrooms before LVP Flooring. With this, it is not easy to go back to a prior flooring due to it being glued down when installed. It is cheaper in price and does come in many colors and patterns, but in our opinion the look does not mimic hardwood/tile as realistically as LVP does.

Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP)

flooring

LVP is the new hot flooring to put in your home. It's simple and fast to install. It won’t damage previous flooring, so you can always go back.

For instance, if you have hardwood floors and you decide to rent your home or you have small kids, installing LVP will protect your floors and can be removed at any time with minimal work.

No glue or nails are used to install this kind of flooring. LVP comes in thousands of colors and textures, whether you want a natural hardwood look, or a distressed wood look. They have options that look like marble/slate tile and flooring that can be installed in a herringbone pattern.

We suggest getting 100% waterproof flooring. It is the most durable and does not warp or bubble from absorbing water. We work with a flooring distributor, VA Discount Flooring in Winchester VA. They have great prices, and also have matching shoe molding and door thresholds to go with whatever flooring color you like. Lowes and Home Depot also have many LVP floorings to choose from.

Tile

Tile has been installed forever. It is the most expensive and labor intensive of the floorings on the list, but is the most durable and really makes a space shine. It is the pinnacle of luxury right beside real hardwood flooring. There is a tile for every style, whether you're going for modern, farmhouse, rustic, industrial, or any combination you can think of.

Carpet

Like hardwood flooring, we do not install carpet because carpet companies can do it faster and cheaper than we can. However, we do offer removal of carpet, carpet padding, and tack strips.

You Decide, We Provide

  1. Choose Your Flooring

Once you know a little more about the flooring types, you are equipped to make the right decision for your flooring needs. Landry Renovations lets you purchase the flooring that matches your style. This eliminates the need for us to put a budget in our contracts of the amount you can spend on flooring, which keeps us from over or undercharging our customers due to the range in flooring prices.

We ask our clients to always purchase a few more boxes than the calculated amount. There is always a chance for a miss cut or damages from the store. Having a few extra boxes on site keeps us working efficiently and removes the hassle of having to pause work in the middle of a job.

At the end of a project, you can return any pieces that were broken or unused and get a refund. It is also important to note that stores discontinue products ALL THE TIME, so having more than needed is necessary. We have seen stores discontinue products within the time of purchasing the flooring to finishing the job, so doing this guarantees enough flooring for your project.

  1. Measure The Space

We will measure your space to calculate the square footage, which will allow you to determine how many boxes you need. On the side of every box of flooring is the square footage each box covers. You will take the overall square footage of your space and divide it by the square footage of the number on your flooring box. This will give you the amount of boxes needed.

  1. Pick It Up

We offer pick up and delivery of your purchased flooring from Lowes, Home Depot, or VA Discount Flooring free of charge because we understand that not everyone has the means to do so. It is helpful to already have the type of flooring you want picked out when we come for an estimate.

Now that you know the ins and outs of the first step towards your new floor, contact Landry Renovations and Repair today and let us make your home improvements come to life.
