Home painting is a pretty straightforward project, but there are ways you can mainstream your estimate process as a client.
We often give painting estimates over the phone because it saves time, but we are always happy to come meet you and see your project in person. If you would like a painting estimate, here is the information you should have before you contact Landry R & R...

Questions to Consider Before a Painting Renovation
Do you have damage to your walls, ceiling, trim, or doors that needs repairing before painting?
We assume there are nail holes, so only let us know about these if there is an excessive amount of them.
What is the approximate size of the space?
(Length by Width) Don’t worry, it doesn't have to be perfect!
What colors do you want to use?
The reason for this question is to let us calculate how many coats of paint will be needed to cover your previous color.
For example, if you want the same color and are looking for a fresh clean look, this will only take 1-2 coats. If you want a more drastic change, like light to dark, or dark to light, this may take 3-4 coats.
Would you like the ceilings, baseboards, doors, and window trim painted also?
Most people choose flat white for their ceilings and semi-gloss white for trim and doors. This is the typical request, but if you have something else in mind please let us know.
What sheen would you like your wall, trim, and door paint to be?
We do recommend flat paint on walls. It has less washability compared to the other sheens, but it is best for hiding imperfections in older homes and homes that have been repaired and painted many times. It is also the easiest paint to touch up if spot repairs are needed down the road.
Paint Options Include:
Flat (no shine)
Eggshell / Satin (slight shine)
Semi-gloss / Gloss (max shine)
What brand of paint do you prefer to use in your home?
This question may not apply to all clients. Customers are usually more concerned with the color, not the brand of paint. However, if you are someone who is partial to a brand we want to make you happy, so just let us know!
Most paint companies can make the same colors as their competitors. For example, Sherwin Williams can make Benjamin Moore colors and vice versa.
Brands to Choose From:
Home Depot - Olympic and Bear
Lowes - Sherwin Williams and Valspar
Sherwin Williams Store - We mostly use Sherwin Williams as we get contractor prices here which makes it cheaper for our clients.
Benjamin Moore
What line of paint would you prefer?
Each company carries an array of paints, from builder-grade to their top-of-the-line.
Consider Sherwin Williams:
ProMar is their contractor-grade line and is the cheapest option.
SuperPaint / Cashmere are their middle-of-the-road lines. These have very good coverage and color retention.
Durations is the line we use the most. It is great value for the money and an excellent interior and exterior paint. It is also a very durable paint.
Emerald is their top-of-the-line paint, making it the most expensive. It is very durable and has self-leveling properties, so it shows fewer brush and roller marks.
The interesting thing about paint is that it can really determine the mood of a room. Are you going for an airy and light room, a room for provoking thought, a room for work? Do you want your room to feel cozy, quiet, cool, or warm? The list goes on and on...
Painting a room in certain ways can make it feel bigger, smaller, shorter, taller, wider, longer, whatever you desire. The possibilities are endless and Landry Renovations and Repair will make your home visions come true.
